This Cookie Policy explains how QuickSeats (https://quickseats.co.uk/) uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally what data we collect and why.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site’s owner. Some cookies are set by us directly (“first-party”); others are set by the third-party services we use on the site (“third-party” cookies).
Managing your cookie choices
When you first visit QuickSeats, you’ll see a cookie banner letting you choose which categories of cookie to allow. Only “Necessary” cookies are set automatically – everything else requires your consent. You can change your choice at any time via the “Cookie Preferences” / “Manage Cookies” link in the site footer, which reopens the same settings panel.
Categories of cookie we use
The categories below match the ones shown in our consent banner.
- Necessary – Always Active
Required to enable the basic features of the site, such as remembering your consent choices. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable data, and can’t be switched off.
Includes: the cookie that stores your consent preferences themselves, and session-technical cookies WordPress sets to serve the site correctly.
- Functional
Help perform certain functionalities, such as third-party features embedded in the site.
Includes: Google Maps. When you switch to the map view, Google Maps loads in your browser to display venues and calculate routes, which may set its own cookies (e.g. NID) in line with Google’s own cookie usage – see https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies. Only loads once you actively open the map view.
- Analytics
Used to understand how visitors interact with the website – metrics such as number of visitors, bounce rate, and traffic source.
Where enabled, this would cover analytics services such as Google Analytics. We’ll keep this section accurate to whichever analytics tool, if any, is actually active – check the live cookie list via “Cookie Preferences” in the footer for the current position.
- Performance
Used to understand and analyse the website’s technical performance, to help deliver a better experience for visitors.
Nothing is currently assigned to this category beyond CookieYes’s own default set – we’ve left it listed for completeness since it appears in the consent banner, and will update this section if that changes.
- Advertisement
Used to provide visitors with adverts relevant to them and to analyse the effectiveness of advertising/referrals.
Includes two distinct things, both grouped here since our banner doesn’t have a separate category for the second:
Google AdSense – shows adverts on the site and, where you’ve consented, personalises them based on pages you’ve previously visited. Google’s cookies for this may include things like _gads, _gac_*, IDE, and test_cookie – see https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies for Google’s current list and their purposes.
Partnerize (our affiliate network) – if you click through to book a show at a participating venue, Partnerize may set a cookie to record that the referral came from QuickSeats, so the venue can credit the booking correctly. Unlike the AdSense cookies above, this one doesn’t personalise anything you see – it only records that a click happened, not what you go on to book or any payment details. Only triggered when you actually click a booking link.
Exact cookie names, providers and durations
The specific cookies set on any given visit depend on which categories you’ve consented to and which features you use (e.g. whether you opened the map view, or clicked a booking link). Our cookie banner maintains the current, definitive list of every cookie in use, including its name, provider, purpose and expiry – you can see this at any time via the “Cookie Preferences” / “Manage Cookies” link in the footer. We keep the categories above accurate to what’s actually in use, but treat that live list as the authoritative source for exact technical detail.
Third-party cookies are controlled by those third parties
Where a cookie is set by Google or Partnerize, that cookie is governed by that provider’s own cookie/privacy policy, not by QuickSeats directly – we don’t control what they do with data their own cookies collect beyond what’s described in our Privacy Policy. Links to each provider’s own policy are given above.
Browser-level controls
As well as the controls on this site, most browsers let you block or delete cookies yourself, and you can set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set. Blocking all cookies may mean some parts of the site (including the map view) don’t work as intended. See your browser’s own help documentation for how to do this.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service that sets cookies. Any changes will be posted on this page.
